Apprenticeship

The Maine Apprenticeship Program allows FCTEC to create a direct pipeline for our CTE students to enter a career in the trades. Our local apprenticeship partners hire some of our advanced CTE students as registered apprentices, who then get credit for their CTE class while earning a competitive wage on the job. 

  • Paid on the Job Training with wage increases

    Minimum of 2000 hours

    Receive CTE program credit

  • Advanced (2nd year) CTE students who completed year 1 in good standing

    Must be at least 16 years old

  • During the 2nd year of CTE program

    Occurs during scheduled CTE class time

    Available during 4th period (if it is open)

  • With any employer that is willing and able to register as an apprenticeship site

    Must be an employer that falls under the category of your CTE program

  • Get your foot in the door with your future career

    Paid job experience before you graduate

    Gain valuable career and life success skills

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be an Advanced Foster CTE Center student

  • Have no more than 2 tardies per semester

  • Maintain a passing grade of C or highter

  • Be on track to graduate on time

  • Have 2 letters of recommendation

  • Be referred to the Apprenticeship Program by your CTE instructor

  • Be approved for the Apprenticeship Program by the Apprenticeship Navigator

  • Be at least 16 years of Age

Steps Required

  • Complete your CTE program

  • Complete Apprenticeship application

  • Complete required career readiness work

  • Maintain communication with the Apprenticeship Navigator throughout the apprenticeship (yes, even post graduation)

Meet the Team


  • Apprenticeship Navigator

    The apprenticeship navigator works with local businesses to register them as formal apprenticeship sites with the DOL. Once these relationship are in place, the apprenticeship navigator works with advanced CTE students to place them in apprenticeships.


  • Learning Facilitator

    Learning Facilitator - The learning facilitator works with advanced CTE students to teach them career skills needed to be successful in the workforce. In addition the learning facilitator facilitates our hybrid electrical program.
